Where you'll be staying

What to pack & prepare
What you’ll need to bring depends on the event you're coming for - we've got detailed packing lists for different kinds of stays. Rest assured that we’ll provide all the specialist gear you’ll need, like wetsuits, life jackets, helmets and equipment.

Safety & supervision
Keeping our young people safe is our top priority, and we’re highly trained and experienced in health and safety procedures. We're proud to offer a high ratio of staff to children on and off the water. You can trust that our amazing team of staff and volunteers are always looking out for the wellbeing of our guests.

What you'll be doing
While you're with us you'll have choice about the acitivites you take part in – but whatever you choose, you can be sure of action, fun and adventure. There’s also plenty of time and space for relaxation, reflection, growing in connection to others and personal spiritual development.

FAQs
Let us put your mind at rest. Please do get in touch if you have any other questions.
All of our staff have up-to-date First Aid qualifications and are competent at dealing with minor emergencies. If it is deemed necessary to seek further help then a child can be taken to either Southbourne Surgery or St Richard's Hospital in Chichester.
We require that children and staff alike MUST wear a properly fitting buoyancy aid before being allowed near the water (from the jetty onwards). Buoyancy aids will keep a person completely afloat until they are attended to, regardless of whether they can swim or not. If your child has any concerns over being on the water, let us know beforehand and we will make sure that both you and they are reassured and communicated with accordingly.
Yes, all staff and volunteers are DBS checked. If you would like to discuss anything to do with our Child Protection Policy, please contact the office.
Unless it's really urgent, we encourage them not to. Very few children miss their families to the extent that they need to talk with them while they're with us. However we would, of course, facilitate this in a situation where it was necessary.
This will probably be possible. You will be asked on your booking form if your child would like to share a cabin with anyone in particular. In all cases we will try to accommodate these important requests but ultimately we can't guarantee we'll be able to.
Please investigate our Bursary Fund! It's there for people who wouldn't be able to come to our events for financial reasons. We endeavor to remove as many barriers as possible from people being able to come to CYE. The process is discrete and confidential and CYE may be able to cover up to 40% of the fees for young people under 25. You can read more about the Bursary fund here. If you want to apply, Download the form and send it to bursary@cye.org.uk.
