Volunteering as part of the #cyeteam
We value our volunteers as part of the team and we would love to hear from you if you have time and skills to offer. Whether it’s on the water, on land activities, summer camps, teachers for our Easter Revision Camp, help in the galley, the office or with our maintenance and site work – or something else entirely! Perhaps you could volunteer on random dates throughout the year or a more regular timescale, whatever you can offer, we’d love to hear from you.
Our greatest need is for qualified activity volunteers and regular galley help as this is the bulk of what we do! Other volunteering roles are definitely avaliable but the dates are likely to be more ad-hoc based on when needs arise.
Email us on volunteering@cye.org.uk, we’ll get you to fill out a short form to let us know how you could help and then we’ll go from there. Thank you in advance.
In return you’ll get all your food provided during your time here and we can usually provide accommodation too if needed. As a volunteer you are entitled to discount on some of our training events (eg first aid) and an invite to our Supporter Days.
Are you subscribed to our newsletters?
If not, you are really missing out! Our monthly newsletter, Prayer Essentials, will give you an idea of what’s been happening at the Centre – events, staff changes, the overal vision – and also what’s coming up in the near future. Our annual review, Masthead, is also a fantastic opportunity to see what we’ve achieved through the past year at CYE with lots of photos and infographics as well as stories, feedback and staff updates.
So if you aren’t already on our mailing list sign up here (select ‘news and updates’)
Here are some specific volunteer roles we’re looking to fill:
Galley & Housekeeping
(all year round, week days or weekends)
Could you spare a regular day or half day per week to come and help in the galley? Or do you have catering experience and be interested in helping cater for our events? Whether you can offer regular or one off hours, we’d be interested to hear from you. Contact us on volunteering@cye.org.uk for more information.
Activity Volunteers
(March-October, week days, weekends, term time or holidays)
If you’ve got activity qualifications and experience, and love working with children and young people – we want to hear from you! Contact us on volunteering@cye.org.uk and we’ll ask you to fill in a short form to help us work out how and where you can best serve on the team.
Maintenance Volunteers (Mondays)
We have a fantastic group of willing volunteers help us out on Mondays with a variety of maintenance tasks around site – fondly known as ‘The Cogs’; because they keep the place going! Do you have skills such as electronics, plumbing, decorating, woodwork, boat maintenance or general DIY that you could offer? If so, we’d love you to join this team. Your day will be headed up by Steve, our Premises Manager, and you’ll also have a tasty cake breaks and hot lunch provided and a chance to meet the rest of the staff team over lunch and coffee breaks. Email admin@cye.org.uk for more information.
