Operations Manager

Do you have a passion for developing team? Do you love both fast-paced problem solving and long-term strategic planning? Are you committed to Jesus, and want to make an impact for His kingdom?

Christian Youth Enterprises is looking for an excellent manager to drive forward their vision of sharing the Gospel, enabling the holistic development of our guests, volunteers and staff, and equipping the next generation of Christian leaders. You would be responsible for the day-to-day running of our Sailing Centre in Chichester Harbour where over 3000 visitors, predominantly young people, enjoy adventurous activities every year in a loving Christian environment. You would be the point-person for operational decisions, as well as having significant influence on the culture and strategic direction of the charity.

This role is not for the faint hearted. It is wide ranging, at times demanding, and requires experience of both watersports and people management. You will need excellent communication skills, a strong work ethic and the ability to motivate and utilise the strengths of your team. However, the payoff is huge: you will grow rapidly in your abilities as a leader and manager, see the changes you implement bear fruit and have significant positive impact in the lives of others.

Hospitality Assistant

Do you love cooking healthy meals? Want make a difference in young people’s lives?

If so, we would love to work with you at Christian Youth Enterprises Sailing Centre (CYE). In this role, you will work alongside the Hospitality Manager to prepare and provide healthy, balanced and high quality meals for our guests which is a huge part of enabling life changing experiences for the thousands of children who come on our events every year. With
responsibility for catering and housekeeping you will also be part of a vibrant staff team and join in with our discipleship programme.

Working as part of the Hospitality team, your skills will help keep our charity offering the best to our guests. For this part time role, we are looking for someone with proven experience of cooking for groups, high standards of housekeeping and with flexibility to adapt to daily needs.

Salary: £8,815 per annum
Job Types: Part-time, Permanent
Days/Hours: 2 days per week inc. 1 weekend per month, 16 hours (including paid breaks).

Trainee Activity Leaders

Each September we have a fantastic group of trainee activity leaders (18 – 25 year olds) join the team – it is so much more than a ‘gap year’! If you’re interested, we’d love to hear from you. You can read our information pack to give you a flavour of a year at CYE and download the application form and send it back to jobs@cye.org.uk. (Please bear in mind that we are often over subscribed for these positions and interviews are as early as December/January. Therefore, if you are interested, please get in touch as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.)

Volunteers

We view our volunteers as part of the #cyeteam – you make what we do possible! You can read more here but these are some current gaps we’re looking to fill:

Galley & Housekeeping
(all year round, week days or weekends)

Could you spare a regular day or half day per week to come and help in the galley? Or do you have catering experience and would be interested in helping cater for our events? Whether you can offer regular or one off hours, we’d be interested to hear from you. Contact us on volunteering@cye.org.uk for more information.

Activity Volunteers
(March-October, week days, weekends, term time or holidays)

If you’ve got activity qualifications and experience, and love working with children and young people – we want to hear from you! Contact us on volunteering@cye.org.uk and we’ll get you to fill in a short form to help us work out how and where you can best serve on the team.

Maintenance Volunteers (Mondays)

We have a fantastic group of willing volunteers help us out on Mondays with a variety of maintenance tasks around site – fondly known as ‘The COGS’; because they keep the place going! Do you have skills such as electronics, plumbing, decorating, woodwork, boat maintenance or general DIY that you could offer? If so, we’d love you to join this team. Your day will be headed up by Steve, our Maintenance Manager, and you’ll also have a tasty cake breaks and hot lunch provided and a chance to meet the rest of the staff team over lunch and coffee breaks.
