At CYE we have built a reputation for excellent provision of exciting and adventurous activities. As a Christian organisation, we share the gospel in what we do and how we work, therefore it is a genuine occupational requirement for post-holders to be a committed Christian.

Trainee Activity Leaders

The Trainee Activity Leader year at CYE is a unique opportunity for 18 – 25s to come and be a part of something incredible. Whoever you are, whatever your background, this COULD be the year that helps you to launch.

You will come and live onsite and be part of a vibrant team – impacting lives with the gospel from day one. Not long after that you’ll be jumping full-on into leading activities and growing in skills. Over the winter you’ll get qualified in water sports and by the summer you’ll be leading a group yourself – including all of the planning and teamwork that’s involved. All the while you’ll be supported by a skilled and generous staff team AND championed within an huge community. The year includes a full discipleship programme and gives you space and opportunity to grow in your relationship with God.

By becoming a Trainee Activity Leader at CYE you’ll follow in the footsteps of many who have trained within this ever-developing program and who have experienced the life-changing growth that is on offer for those who jump in wholeheartedly.

Applications are now open for September 2026 – could this be the start of your next chapter? Or perhaps the next step for someone you know.

For more information check out this role description and download the Trainee Leader Information Pack. Please do email admin@cye.org.uk if you have any questions not answered in these. To apply, please fill in the application form.

The deadline for applications is Friday 9th January 2026. The initial round of trainee interviews will take place on Friday 23rd January 2026 (there may be some flexibility in this if needed, please get in touch). Depending on the number of successful candidates there may be another round of interviews later in the year, but, if you’re keen, apply now to avoid disappointment.

Galley & Housekeeping
(all year round, week days or weekends)

Could you spare a regular day or half day per week to come and help in the galley? Or do you have catering experience and would be interested in helping cater for our events? Whether you can offer regular or one off hours, we’d be interested to hear from you. Contact us on volunteering@cye.org.uk for more information.

Activity Volunteers
(March-October, week days, weekends, term time or holidays)

If you’ve got activity qualifications and experience, and love working with children and young people – we want to hear from you! Contact us on volunteering@cye.org.uk and we’ll get you to fill in a short form to help us work out how and where you can best serve on the team.

Admin Volunteers

For those with admin experience – come and be part of a great team who generally manage to keep drier than those out on the water. Email us if you have some time to offer and want to be a part of CYE life.

Maintenance Volunteers (Mondays)

We have a fantastic group of willing volunteers help us out on Mondays with a variety of maintenance tasks around site – fondly known as ‘The COGS’; because they keep the place going! Do you have skills such as electronics, plumbing, decorating, woodwork, boat maintenance or general DIY that you could offer? If so, we’d love you to join this team. Your day will be headed up by Steve, our Maintenance Manager, and you’ll also have a tasty cake breaks and hot lunch provided and a chance to meet the rest of the staff team over lunch and coffee breaks.
