Ignite (9-12)

A week packed with water sports, wild activities, new friends and fun discussions about faith for 9-12 year olds.

jump in to camp fun

Ignite is the perfect first step into residential camp life. Whether you're coming with friends or on your own, you'll quickly feel at home as you dive into sailing, kayaking, archery, tunnelling and the assault course. Each Ignite camp has its own unique theme and everything, from the games to the talks, is built around it.

You don't need any previous experience; our instructors will make sure everyone learns new skills at their own pace, with plenty of support for those trying things for the first time and extra challenges for the more adventurous. Evenings are filled with campfires, night walks, themed activities and short, engaging talks about the Christian faith, followed by small group discussions where campers can ask questions and share their thoughts.

With comfortable cabins, delicious food and a team of caring leaders who remember what it's like to be your age, Ignite creates a safe space where you can grow in confidence, make memories that last a lifetime and explore what it means to follow Jesus.

Make Friends for Life

At Ignite, friendships happen naturally. From the moment you arrive, you'll be welcomed into a community where everyone looks out for each other. Share a cabin with your mates or meet new people from different places. The mix of teamwork activities, mealtimes together and evening hangouts means you'll leave with friendships that often last for years.

Faith That Makes Sense

Each evening, a speaker shares short, fun talks that connect the Christian message to real life. Afterwards, you'll chat about it in small groups with leaders who listen well and take your questions seriously. There's no pressure – just honest conversations about faith and what it means to live as a follower of Jesus in today's world.

FAQs

Let us put your mind at rest.  Please do get in touch if you have any other questions.

Is there parking at CYE?

Yes but it is limited. If you are dropping off your child, we would ask that you do this as quickly as possible. The car park is shared with Cobnor Activity Centre and can get very congested at pick up and drop off times.

My child left something behind after their visit to CYE. Can you help?

We keep lost property items for a maximum of 1 week before giving them to charity. In order to return them we ask you to arrange a collection using the Royal Mail website. They will be able to collect the item from CYE and get it to you. Please contact the office to arrange this.

When you say there'll be some 'Christian content' what does this mean?

Christian Youth Enterprises is a Christian charitable organisation. Everyone who works at the Centre (and board of Trustees) shares the Christian faith. Whilst we believe that this is the foundation to what we do and why we do it, we are understanding and respectful of everyone's beliefs and views, whatever these are. Our aim is to share what we believe with our guests in a relevant, engaging and exciting way and encourage our guests to think about and share what they believe too.

My child isn't quite the right age, can I book them in anyway?

Our age ranges are there for safety reasons, and to maximise enjoyment for all our guests. However, we run a 3 month +/- policy, so if your child is 3 months too young, or too old, then you can contact the office to book them on. For example, if your 8 year old child wanted to come to a 9-12 year old event in April, they would need to be turning 9 by July of that year. The only exception to this is that 8 is our lowest age (except for Ignite Sleepover and 'all-age' events such as families weekends). 7 year olds cannot be booked on to events, even if they'll be 8 years old in 3 months.

Does my child need to bring any money or snacks/sweets with them?

We have a CYE shop which sells things like CYE caps, keyrings, pens etc. We normally recommend about £5-10 spending money for a residential stay. Please do not send your child with sweets or snacks as they will have plenty of food (including amazing home-made cake) whilst they're here!

My child has food they don't like/won't eat, what will happen at mealtimes to cater for them?

We have an amazing catering team who produce delicious, child-friendly, fresh food. Whilst we will always accommodate dietary requirements (allergies, vegetarian, vegan etc) we cannot accommodate individual preferences. The variety within each meal should mean that even the fussiest of eaters will be catered for.
