CYESC's NEW SHIP PROJECT
Hopefully most regulars to CYE will know that we are embarking on a very exciting project... to replace our accommodation vessel the Gerald Daniel.
This page is here, to help you keep up to date with what's going on with the project, and for those of you who don't know anything about it, to help you join in the excitement!
Introduction...
Currently, residential accommodation is provided onboard an ex-navy minesweeper, 'The Gerald Daniel'. Now fifty four years old, it requires constant maintenance and no longer meets the diverse needs of the Centre. Also its inadequate heating and insulation limits the season from Easter to October. Access is also restricted to those with limited mobility reaching the main accommodation and dining areas. Click on a picture to view larger:

What will the new ship provide?
The vessel will provide an extra 250m2 of quality accommodation, suitable for year round use. This additional use, together with facilities for those with limited mobility and 10 additional beds will allow us to welcome an extra 1500 young people each year, ensuring over 3500 young people a year could benefit from the challenge and enjoyment of a residential course at CYESC. The new vessel brings other enhanced facilities including quality sleeping accommodation and washroom facilities, a number of areas to meet and relax. Modern well equipped kitchen facilities with a large multi purpose meeting and dining area. There will also be a leaders lounge and wet lecture room.
